Ganze zwei Wochen konnten wir durch diese beiden schönen Länder reisen. Natürlich immer auf der Suche nach einem guten Kaffee. Jeder Morgen begann mit einer Suche nach einem Spezialitätencafé und wir wurden immer sehr schnell fündig. Der Beginn in Porto brachte uns zu schönen Orten und auch zu interessanten Menschen. Wir bekamen nicht nur die Geschichten der Kaffees zu hören sondern auch die Geschichten der Menschen vor Ort. Weshalb die Coronasituation die Perspektive der jungen Menschen in Portugal so massivst geändert haben. Weshalb Portugal einerseits junge Menschen in Richtung innereuropäischen Länder verliert und andererseits Menschen aus Brasilien kommen. Irgendwie traurig aber das ist auch Globalisierung. In Porto kamen wir auf jeden Fall immer zu unseren tollen Kaffees und generell ist diese Stadt auch sehr empfehlenswert. Diesmal gab es auch eine Degustation aber keinen Kaffee sondern Portwein. Sehr interessant und ebenfalls empfehlenswert.
Die nächste Stadt war Lissabon und die Stadt hat ihren besonderen Charme mit der Altstadt und der großen Brücke. Viel mehr Touristen und dadurch hat sich die Vielfalt etwas verringert. Die Gassen und die alten Gebäuden sind auf jeden Fall eine Reise wert. Kaffeetechnisch haben wir auch an den normalen Bars oder Restaurants ganz guten Espresso bekommen. Viele Cafés konnten wir aufgrund der Knappen Zeit nicht besuchen.
Die Reise zur Algarve mit dem Bus war sehr interessant und man konnte die Natur nochmal auf eine andere Art genießen. Die Sonne, das Meer und die Küsten sind wirklich atemberaubend und wir konnten hier richtig gut zur Ruhe kommen. Hier haben wir vor allem unseren eigenen Kaffee zubereitet und haben das Ganze zelebriert. Die eigene Hario-Mühle und die eigene Filtermaschine verstärkten natürlich die Aromen mit den Aussichten vor Ort. Da kamen wir gefühlt den Kaffees aus Honduras und aus Äthiopien gleich viel näher. Sehr schöne Gegend und vor allem die Küsten bei Lagos und Sagres sind definitiv zu empfehlen.
Sevilla war vielerlei Hinsicht extrem. Die Hitze vor Ort mit über 35 Grad und die Dichte an vielen tollen Cafés haben uns zum Schwitzen gebracht. Einfach toll diese Stadt und vor allem gab es überall leckeren ColdBrew mit Crusheis. Das war ab sofort unser Standardgertränk.
Nach Sevilla sind wir mit dem Bus nach Granada und vor allem wollten wir Alhambra und anschauen. Wir wussten schon vorab dass die arabischen Elemente stark geprägt sind in dieser so schönen Stadt. Als wir dann ankamen waren wir sehr überrascht über die Vielfalt an den Kulturen und auch die Einflüsse der Religionen. Arabische und auch türkische Einflüsse waren auch kulinarisch sichtbar. So haben wir auch tollen Mokka getrunken und dazu Baklava gegessen. In der gleichen Gegend haben wir auch diverse Spezialitätencafés gefunden und auch einiges probiert. Auch hier gab es ebenfalls viele die ColdBrew anboten und die Espressos waren ebenfalls fein.
Nächster Stopp war Madrid und hier gab es eine Fülle von tollen Cafés und diese wären auch sehr aufwendig aufzulisten. Die Süßspeisen waren ebenfalls lecker und abgerundet haben wir unsere Reise mit einem Stadionbesuch ohne Kaffee, hehe.
Nächster und letzter Stopp wird Barcelona sein und dann geht es wieder zurück mit vielen Erlebnissen und Eindrücken und einer tollen Zeit an vielen schönen Orten und mit einer tollen Reisepartnerin und Kaffeetesterin.
Coffee tour through Portugal and Spain
Whole two weeks we could travel through these two beautiful countries. Of course, always in search of a good coffee. Every morning started with a search for a specialty coffee shop and we always found it very quickly. The beginning in Porto brought us to beautiful places and also to interesting people. We got to hear not only the stories of the coffees but also the stories of the local people. Why the Corona situation changed the perspective of young people in Portugal so massively. Why Portugal is losing young people towards inner-European countries on the one hand and people are coming from Brazil on the other hand. Kind of sad but that is also globalization. In Porto we always came to our great coffees and generally this city is also very recommendable. This time there was also a tasting but not coffee but port wine. Very interesting and also recommended.
The next city was Lisbon and the city has its special charm with the old town and the big bridge. Much more tourists and therefore the variety has decreased a bit. The alleys and the old buildings are definitely worth a visit. Coffee-wise, we also got quite good espresso at the normal bars or restaurants. Many cafes we could not visit because of the scarcity of time.
The trip to the Algarve by bus was very interesting and you could enjoy nature again in a different way. The sun, the sea and the coasts are really breathtaking and we could come here really well to rest. Here we have especially prepared our own coffee and have celebrated the whole thing. The own Hario grinder and filter machine amplified of course the flavors with the views on site. There we felt much closer to the coffees from Honduras and from Ethiopia. Very beautiful area and especially the coasts near Lagos and Sagres are definitely recommended.
Seville was extreme in many ways. The heat on site with over 35 degrees and the density of many great cafes made us sweat. Just great this city and especially there was everywhere delicious ColdBrew with crusheis. That was from now on our standard drink.
After Seville we took the bus to Granada and especially we wanted to see Alhambra. We knew in advance that the Arabic elements are strong in this beautiful city. When we arrived we were very surprised about the variety of cultures and also the influences of the religions. Arabic and Turkish influences were also visible culinary. So we also drank great mocha and ate baklava. In the same area we also found various specialty cafes and also tried some. Again, there were also many that offered ColdBrew and the espressos were also fine.
Next stop was Madrid and here there was an abundance of great cafes and these would also be very elaborate to list. The desserts were also delicious and we rounded out our trip with a stadium visit without coffee, hehe.
Next and last stop will be Barcelona and then it's back again with many experiences and impressions and a great time in many beautiful places and with a great travel partner and coffee tester.
